We keep following IFA 2008 consumer electronics show that’s held annually in Berlin, where Samsung took the opportunity to showcase some of its newest phones.
About some of them we have written already, and some of the devices are not yet officially announced but have been rumored, others are already available.
These list includes a dozen of phones. The new Samsung phones are the Samsung M3510 Beat, Samsung B2700, Samsung M200 and Samsung B210. The devices that have already been announced but are officially showen for the first time are the dual SIM Samsung D980, Samsung S7330, Samsung P180, Samsung M150, and the Samsung B130. And finally, the phones that are already available on the market are the Samsung E215, B510 and B300.
Samsung D980 DuoS
We did write couple of times about D980 DuoS and now officially the Samsung D980 is presented in Berlin.
It reminds much of the Samsung F480 Tocco - it has the same form factor, completely touchscreen and intuitive TouchWiz with a 5 megapixel camera on the back. But the biggest plus of the Samsung D980 will be its dual SIM functionality, which will make this phone very attractive for those who don’t want to keep 2 phones.
Unlike the F480, the Samsung D980 has a smaller 2.6-inch QVGA display and it doesn’t work in UMTS networks at all. There is a memory card slod for microSD cards up to 2GB of capacity only, which sounds rather old. And at last, the Samsung D980 is 5mm thicker than the F480.
Still the dual SIM functionality may appeal to many people.
Speaking of the dual SIM functionality, it’s got to be noted that the Samsung D980 sports tri-band support for both the SIM cards - unlike the Samsung D880, which had tri-band support for the first SIM and dual-band support for the second one.
Samsung M3510 Beat
The Samsung M3510 Beat is a slim bar phone, that’s already been rumored quite a lot. It’s main feature is Bang&Olufsen ICEpower audio chip as well as dedicated music keys and a 3.5mm audio jack, which will make this phone a nice musical device.
A really fresh feature in M3510 is its Shake control that has been first used in Sony Ericsson Walkman phones. The built-in accelerometer can also be used in other applications such as the image gallery.
The Samsung M3510 Beat supports quad-band GSM, has a 2-inch QVGA display and a 2 megapixel camera and is just 9.9mm thick. To store music and other files there is microSD memory card slot, stereo Bluetooth (A2DP) and FM radio with RDS are also on board.
